Art Reyes has been making and serving delicious food to family and friends for longer than he can remember. From early days in the kitchen of his grandmother’s house making pancakes, to the 2020 pandemic where his kids sent him TikTok recipes, Art has always had a passion for cooking, recreating and improving recipes. Though he makes a wide variety of foods, his favorite meals have always been the dishes from his childhood and his hometown of El Paso, Texas.
Of the dishes he perfected over the years, a stand out and crowd favorite was Art’s Queso recipe. In 2019, Art entered the Austin Quesoff and took home the Trophy in the Spicy Queso category. He was the only homecook to win a trophy, and seeing how much Austin loves its queso, it was a true honor. When people kept asking where his restaurant was, the idea to open a place of his own was born.
Three years later – El Paso Flauta is a father-daughter owned and operated mobile food trailer business in Austin, Texas. Our menu is small, with only a few items because we want to keep things simple and be good at the things we’re making. We make our food fresh every day, using our own family recipes.
Our signature dish and namesake was made to bring a little piece of El Paso to Austin. This family recipe has been a go-to comfort meal for generations.
